Filed under: General Info — info at 12:26 pm on Wednesday, November 8, 2006

Electrolysis is a state-of-art hair removal technique that requires an adept Electrologist in order to get best-desired results without any errors.

How Do I Choose an Electrologist? It is the first question that will crop up in your mind and it is a question that may be difficult to answer if you are new to the topic of Electrolysis.

Basic steps Choosing a skilful Electrologist is like choosing an artisan who has the capability of creating a masterpiece. One wrong step will not only cost you time and money but might cause irreparable losses in long run.

While attempting to hire the services of a trained Electrologist, you must definitely look for certifications. A trained Electrologist should have the following certifications: AEA (American Electrology Association), IGPE (International Guild of Professional Electrologists), SCME (Society of Clinical and Medical Electrologists) amongst others. You can also find an Electrologist by asking your friends for references and keeping an eye out for advertisements from leading Electrolysis treatment centers. Newspapers, magazines, radio broadcasts and infomercials often carry tidbits on Electrolysis. So keep your eyes and ears open!

Electrolysis- Additional guidelines and steps to follow
Remember that you are playing with the most delicate and visible part of your body – the skin. Give yourself some time to review the qualifications and experience of the Electrologist that you are planning to choose. This is first step in choosing the right Electrologist for your electrolysis treatment. In many States across the U.S., it has been made mandatory that every trained Electrologist should have a valid license from an accredited institution before undertaking electrolysis as profession. If you are conscious about your body and want to play it safe, make a detailed enquiry into the background of your Electrologist. You can get information from your friends and acquaintances. Besides, you can also enquire about his or her reputation from people in the locality where the Electrologist has the clinic. This would help you make a firm decision about choosing a particular Electrologist.

Invariably, you can also attend consultation sessions to get updated on facts and data related to Electrolysis. Being armed with information is the safest route to take. This will give you an idea as to how long the Electrolysis session should take. You will also be able to gauge whether your Electrologist is offering you accurate information Get your common sense into action by conversing with the Electrologist. A surprise visit to the clinic will reveal the level of cleanliness practiced. In addition to this, you can bring a trusted friend along, so your opinion will be backed by another. A different view will give you a more holistic answer.

It is important to check whether the Electrologist has all the required facilities to carry out the procedure. Does he use disposable gloves and probes to perform Electrolysis? Are you comfortable with the Electrologist’s way of working? These are some questions that you can ask yourself.  This and many more steps will help you test the credibility and efficiency of an Electrologist who is well versed with the techniques of Electrolysis. Electrolysis Methods and Procedures

Electrolysis: What and how?
Electrolysis is a latest and innovative technique of removing unwanted hair from your body by inserting a disposable or sterile probe into the pores of the hair follicle, which reaches down to the dermal papilla. The method involves burning the dermal papilla of the hair follicle by passing momentary electric current via a probe in order to stop the growth of unwanted hair. The Dermal Papilla is a very sensitive region and it supplies blood and nourishes your hair. The principal aim of the Electrologist is to destroy this dermal papilla and the surrounding portion thereby retarding the hair growth in the region.
The method is very successful and widely accepted across the globe. Further, the method is recommended and acknowledged by the Food and Drug Administration (FAD) and the American Medical Association (AMA), besides other organizations of repute. The process of Electrolysis is safe, easy, comfortable and economical; provided it is carried out under the guidance of a trained and certified Electrologist.
Electrolysis involves a series of treatments spanning two to three weeks depending on the individual person, amount of hair growth and above all the expertise of the Electrologist. Other hair treatment methods such as tweezing, waxing and chemical applications, only destroys the hair shaft but not the root source of the growth, and as a result, hair protrude out from the follicles after a certain period.

Electrolysis: Methods and procedures
Three common methods and procedures are involved in this process. Here Electrolysis is carried out by the action of salt and water around the portion where treatment is to be done under the influence of a small electric current to chemically alter the composition. This results in the formation of sodium hydroxide (NaoH) or Lye. Lye produced, has destructive action on hair papilla and surrounding cells and as a result of this, hair stop to grow in that particular area where the action was done.
Chemically, the following reaction takes place on the skin:
NaCl (salt) + H2O (water) + Feeble Current ——> NaOH (sodium hydroxide) + Cl (chlorine) + H (Hydrogen)
Thermolysis is yet another form of Electrolysis, wherein, the water molecules in t he skin are made to generate heat by the controlled action of feeble current passed through probes. The heat generated as a result of current, causes localized damage to the hair papilla and the surrounding cells that nourishes the hair. This results in no hair growth on the treated area later.
Blend, a lesser known though a smart technique of electrolysis is quiet similar to Galvanic electrolysis, except that in this method Lye is heated to an extent to make it more caustic so that the effect is profound and far reaching.

Benefits of Electrolysis
Electrolysis is packed with numerous benefits. Firstly, the process is safe, permanent and irreversible. Secondly, there are no prolonged side effects visible. Thirdly, the process can be performed easily on men and women. Lastly, compared to other hair removal methods, Electrolysis is quiet effective, economical and less time consuming.

Electrolysis: The Causes of Unwanted Growth of Hair

Filed under: General Info — info at 12:23 pm on Wednesday, November 8, 2006

Electrolysis as an effective method of hair removal requires many preliminary investigations about the history of unwanted hair growth on a person’s body. There are many reasons that can be strongly attributed for random hair growth.

Unwanted hair growth can be hereditary in nature. Unwanted hair growth is induced as a result of the mutation of a single or multiple gene factor. The result is that this defective gene is passed on from one generation to another. Hormonal imbalance also results in uncontrolled and unwanted hair growth in our body. This in turn can be the result of negative side effects of antibiotics, post pregnancy changes in women, any defective gene becoming dominant, and several other reasons.

In addition to this, studies have shown that prolonged drug addiction and narcotics also initiates and stimulates uncontrolled hair growth. Any chronic illness can also result in uncontrolled hair growth. This could also be related to the indirect effect of antibiotics and treatment methods employed to cure the disease.

It is seen that people who resort to temporary hair removal methods such as chemical depilatories, laser technology and other methods are more susceptible to getting unwanted and uncontrolled hair growth in some specific parts of body.

Electrolysis: How many sessions of treatment are required?
Electrolysis is carried out depending upon the quantity of hair, the region where treatment is required and the person’s adaptability. Recurrent visits to beauty clinics may be required for treatment and each session is spread between 20 minutes to an hour. Initially, clients come once or twice a week and later the frequency is reduced gradually.
